A Year’s Gone By!

Last June, we opened our toddler classroom. That was our last classroom to open.  A year later, how are we doing?

We’re doing well!

Our infant room continues to run at capacity with several families on a waiting list.  Currently, the population in the room is between 12 weeks and 22 months, though we are licensed for infants as young as 6 weeks.

Our toddler classroom is a little lean now because our toddlers graduated into preschoolers, so please contact us if you’re looking for care for a 24 – 35 month old.

Our preschool room has seen huge growth.  Last summer, a busy day in preschool was 4 kids.  This summer, an average day in preschool is 8 kids, and  a busy day is 11 or more.  We’re able to enroll more preschoolers also, so please contact us if you’re interested. We welcome full-time and flexible part-time enrollment

Our big project for this summer is going to be the installation of our outdoor play area.  We’ve set a goal to have an area fenced off and ready for outdoor fun by the end of August. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.

As 2010 comes to a close, there will be some adjustments to our tuition rates. These adjustments will not affect current families, so contact us soon to lock-in your rates!

Summer Time=Growing Time!

We’ve had a busy summer at Twin Oaks CDC!  Two of our infants have become very skilled walkers and sometimes our whole room shares a nap time.  Our toddlers have been learning about colors.  In preschool, we’ve been talking about animals.  We made our own zoo map and wrote a story together about the zoo.

We are having fun learning and growing together.  We have room in our toddler class and preschool class for more friends, and invite you to join us!

It’s been a while…

It’s been a while since we posted a blog with any updates.  We want to let you know that we are officially open, and Certified!  We are accepting enrollment for toddlers and preschoolers: ages 24 months – 5 years.  Our infant room is not currently enrolling.

We are developing a great team of staff, with a shared goal of providing excellence in childcare.  We believe that the children in our care are thriving, and their parents have peace of mind while they are away at work or school.

The next and final chapter for our first year of operation is the installation of our outdoor play area. We will be fencing off a portion of our front yard, with two shade trees, and a piece of blacktop as a trike track.  We’re hoping to get this done while the weather is nice this summer!

Note: Photos used with parent consent.

Now Open

Our half-day preschool classroom is officially now open! I am so excited to get started and the room looks great!

Our lobby is looking very nice also. A couple men from the church built beautiful cubbies! They really did a great job, and it was a huge savings to have them built instead of purchased. We were also able to get a nice, comfy couch for our reception area. My goal is to keep our reception area/lobby as “homey” as possible to ease the transition from home to school for our little guys and their parents.

Below are some photos of our classroom, now that it is finished!
If you’re interested in seeing it in person, or visiting us for a free trial day, please call or email us today!

Getting Closer…

Hello everyone!

Opening day is getting closer and closer! Tomorrow, new flooring goes into the entryway and the waxing in the classrooms will be complete. Paint is already done! Furnishings and equipment are on their way.

It is so exciting to see how things are progressing. I’m enclosing some pictures with this post. The first few are the “before” pictures. The second set are the “almost there” pictures. More pictures will be added when the lobby and preschool room are complete…so, stay tuned!

Welcome!

Welcome to Twin Oaks Child Development Center. Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. My name is Abbey Lutskovsky; most children call me Mrs. Abbey or Mrs. L! As the director, my job is to answer your questions and ensure that your child is receiving excellent care. As a teacher, my job is to provide a wide variety of learning opportunities as well as a safe, supportive environment so that all children can thrive.

We are a new addition to the childcare scene, but we have many years of experience and education. I have over ten years of experience working with children – teaching dance classes, working in children’s ministry, and working in the school setting. We are confident that your children will learn and grow with us, but even more important – they will have fun! We want our children to leave us with the knowledge that school is a safe space for making friends, taking chances, playing with new materials, and learning. If they leave with that knowledge, the transition to kindergarten will be so much smoother.

Our program is opening in stages. Stage One launches September 29, 2008 with a half-day preschool for up to twenty 3 & 4 year-olds. Stage two launches in January, 2009. I am looking forward to stage two with great anticipation! At stage two, we will open our Infant Care room and extend our preschool into a full-day program. This stage will allow us to better serve working families by providing whole-day care from 7am to 6pm.

Stay tuned for more updates! Call us with your questions, and again thanks for learning more about us.
